The Woolstore Theatre, Codford
2026 Programme
Best wishes at this festive time. This coming year is our Centenary and we have put together a programme which showcases drama styles throughout the period to amuse and delight
We kick off on the 9th of January with Robin Hood, already much advertised and ticket sales doing really well. Lots of fun and excitement for the family.
On March 20th we welcome back The Navy Larks, this year accompanied by their female counterparts, for a sea shanty and naval musical extravaganza. They were extremely popular last time and very entertaining and have taken on board the Centenary theme.
March 26th 27th 28th We have three one act plays to showcase.
The first is by A.A. Milne, a favourite author and world famous for Winnie the Pooh and his chums. The play, ‘The Man In The Bowler Hat’, was performed in 1926 and is set during a comfortable domestic evening in Mary and John’s sitting room. A “tempest in a teapot” disturbs their comfortable routine, much to the amusement of the audience.
The next play jumps to the second World War and leaves these shores for a ‘manoir’ in rural France under the occupation of the Germans. Beautifully named, ‘The Pen Of My Aunt’, it revolves around the conflicts and hilarious misunderstandings that arise when a French soldier is found in the manoir woods without papers.
The final play of the evening is, ‘Fade To Black’ and is bang up to date. An actor awakes in a green room but all is not as it seems. Does he even know he is an actor? Why is he there? Where is this green room? Who are these people?
June 12th Crispin Thomas returns with a D Day event following his very successful Arnhem talk.
Later on in the month, Niki Carpenter is directing the play, ‘Calendar Girls’, with a local setting and the aim is not just the production but to also create a 2027 Calendar to raise money for Cancer charities. A delightful play which is both poignant and funny.
Come the Autumn, Will Johnson, director of Gazumped will stage, ‘Two And Two Make Sex’. A hilarious farce with absurdity decorated with the ridiculous.
As usual we have a film each month starting in February and I’m sure as the year progresses, other events will be added to the programme.
It just remains for me to wish you all a very happy new year and say a big thank you for your very invaluable support.
Jenny Johnson on behalf of all the Committee.
Secretary.
